A family picture

Madalyn decided to draw a picture of our family the other morning. It was I think one of her best drawings- the one draw back was that it is on the wall. In fact she drew a whole scene which went from the bottom of our staircase all the way to the top. This was the most detailed section. The person on the far left is Madalyn and then their are three babies (one of those is Mackenzie) I am not sure who the others are she told me they were just some babies. Then there is Me and Garrison is the one on the far right. One interesting thing about this whole incident is that earlier in the week Garrison and I had been watching a show that told us it is easier for kids Madalyn's age to draw on things vertical like the wall and that is part of why it is such a tempting canvas -so needless to say we will be putting an easel in her room to hopefully prevent this from happening again.

Vroom vroom !

Here is Mackenzie with her 1st car! She got it from Granna and Grandpart for her birthday. She is not quite tall enough to "drive" by herself, but she does enjoy having it pushed by someone other than her big sister Madalyn. Madalyn goes a little too fast for her.

Video from Mackenzie's 1st Birthday Party

Happy Birthday, Mackenzie!

We had so much fun at Mackenzie's 1st Birthday party. We had a valentine theme of course what else could we do since she was born on Valentines Day. We had lots of desserts, watched a video of her 1st year and then opened presents. We even had a little table set up where some of the kids could make little valentine cards. Mackenzie loved her birthday cake she just kept eating and eating she did not stop until we took it away. She even fussed at us a little when we did take it away. We had lots of friends and family there to celebrate even though it was cold and snowy outside. We also missed those of you who were unable to make it and for you Garrison is working on putting the video he made for the party online so you all can watch it too.

We also went to the pediatrician yesterday for her 1 year old check up and she weighed in at 16 lbs and 12 ounces (2nd percentile not even on the chart) and she is 27 inches long (5th percentile). She is definitely a peanut.

Girl's vacation

Madalyn, Mackenzie and I went to Birmingham one weekend for a girls' vacation while Garrison had to do some out of town work. Our weekend turned into almost a whole week because Garrison's work took longer than expected, but Aunt Susan was gracious enough to let us stay with her the whole time. The girls had so much fun at her house. We did lots of fun things. Madalyn went to the Mcwain Center (an interactive science museum type place) where she made a friend her age from Aunt Susan's church named Hayden. The girls also got to play with their cousins Whitney and Audrey and some of their friends. We also did lots of projects in the scrapbooking room (which Madalyn called the "project room") I also got to go and visit some of Aunt Susan's favorite scrapbooking stores which I really enjoyed. This picture was taken the last day of our Girl's Vacation. Madalyn still talks about our Girls Vacation and when are we going to do it again.

Thank you so much Aunt Susan for this week full of memories.

Mackenzie's photo shoot

Garrison's Aunt Susan and I decided to take some pictures of Mackenzie one day just for fun and they turned out great. We had so much fun taking them and I think Mackenzie had fun too. This is just one of the great pictures we got. There were so many good ones, but this one is my favorite.

Twas the night before Christmas....

Every year we read Twas the night
before Christmas as a family. Garrison
and I started reading this story on Christmas Eve our 2nd Christmas after we were married before we even had the girls it is one of our Christmas traditions. Mackenzie really enjoyed the book. We read the Robert Sabuda pop up version. This year we also read Little Tree based on the poem by E.E. Cummings and the story and art was done by Chris Raschka. It is a very cute little story about getting a Christmas tree and taking it home. Madalyn really liked this book. It was our new Christmas book this year. we try to get a new Christmas book each Christmas. We love to read and look at books in our family.
